Dean's Garden Centre - History Dean's Garden Centre is a family run business serving local gardeners for more than 40 years. Our York store in Stockton on Forest was opened in 1968 by Mr and Mrs Dean. The centre has gone from strength to strength growing to cover more than four acres. "The Bothy" coffee shop opened in 1991 and has been popular with customers ever since. This store is currently undergoing some refurbishments which will include an improved layout offering our customers much more choice.
In 1986 Deans decided to expand further and bought a former cut flower nursery in Scarborough. This is now home to another successful garden centre with its own coffee shop "The Gardener's Choice".
We produce our own Herbaceous perennials, vegetable plants, spring and summer bedding plants from nursery site. In the run up to Christmas we produce an excellent crop of cyclamen. Many of our staff are all fully trained and happy to share their gardening expertise. Both coffee shops serve hot and cold meals and snacks all year round so you can make a trip to see us as a day out for the whole family.
Dean’s is very much a family firm. When Mr and Mrs Dean retired in 1993 their 3 children took over the day to day running of the business. We are proud of being a local family firm with strong roots in the community.
Services Delivery Service Both centres offer an extensive delivery service throughout North Yorkshire and North Humberside. We also deliver to Teeside, Leeds and Doncaster. A small charge is made for delivery. Please telephone or email for more details.
Disabled Facilities & Access Both centres offer disabled parking, courtesy wheelchairs for use whilst in the garden centre, disabled toilets, and easy access to all areas of both centres as everything is on one level.
Carry to Car Our staff at Dean’s will be only too pleased to help you with any heavy, bulky or awkward items to your car. Please ask a member of staff when making your purchase.
Free Help & Advice Our helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff are always available to assist you with any gardening questions and problems you may have, either in store or by telephone or email.
Hardy Plant Guarantee All our hardy plants are of high quality and will grow if looked after correctly.
We will replace any hardy nursery stock that fails, providing that the plant is returned to us within 12 months of purchase along with its label and a receipt. Please ask a member of our staff for more details.
